Midge Ure – 1980 – Vienna & Visage | Royal & Derngate | 19:00
The 1980 Tour reminds us that these things are possible. Both ‘Vienna’ and ‘Visage’ were the sound of the future… and yet still sound unearthly, romantic, impossibly beautiful and full of promise. Brought to life by Midge Ure and Band Electronica, this is the very first time in the 40 years since it was made that the ‘Vienna’ album will be performed in its entirety. It is also the first time that many of the songs from the debut Visage album will be played live.

The Rezillos formed in 1976 through a shared love of Sixties Garage Rock and the Spectoresque Girl Group glam of The Ronettes and The Shangri-Las. Their debut single, “I Can’t Stand My Baby”, shot them to underground fame initially via airings on BBC Radio 1 John Peel’s radio show. Their classic singles “My Baby Does Good Sculptures”, “Top of the Pops” and “Destination Venus” followed shortly afterwards. Their landmark album of 1978 “Can’t Stand the Rezillos” reached the top 10 in the UK album chart. They appeared twice on the legendary Old Grey Whistle Test and hit the Top Twenty with their hit single ‘Top of the Pops’. The live recording, “Mission Accomplished… But the Beat Goes On”, LP swiftly followed before the band promptly broke up to the anguish of fans and music critics alike. The Rezillos reformed recently and toured the UK as special guests of The Stranglers promoting their first album in 36 years, the critically acclaimed “Zero”.

Askari | Flash Peasants | The Lab | 20:00
The Lab is proud to bring back Askari an electronic, nu-metal, grime collective from two vastly different corners of the UK. Born out of several late-night freestyle studio sessions between producer James Routh and lyricist Asher Baker, ASKARI seamlessly merge the distinct sounds of raw, guttural grime and punchline-packed hip hop with guitar-laden garage rock and down-tuned metal to create a monster. An obnoxious, outrageously loud monster. Backed by the raucous, chugging riffs of Liam Carroll and the destructive beats of “Iron” Aiden Baldwin, ASKARI pull no punches throwing walls of sound around any size venue and spitting vitriolic lyrics squarely in the face of absolutely everybody ever. Support comes from Flash Peasants, Hip-Hop meets punk from Corby, Planet Earth. Tories Out.
