The Collective | The Lab Northampton | 20:00

The Collective started as a rap group consisting of AJ, Gwiva, Tom and Sooth Sayer in 2015 AJ started work on the first project Split Personalities alongside Craig Featherstone on production with guests, Nita Von T, Tom Spencer, Gwiva and Dame-O (AJ + The Collective). After lots of support from Richard Hart (Gravity FM) who encouraged them to do gigs they entered a competition for Fake Festival, and to their surprise won after lots of support from voters. They decided the best way to perform would be to form a band so then the Collective became The Collective Band with Toby Winter on drums and Rupert Tyrer on bass. After performing at Fake Festival the band had a small hiatus but got back together for a year of gigs attending Knipfest, VW Festival, hip hop nights in Camden and many more. With the first project done and the live shows well underway the group started work on a second project (Mixed Personalities) a two CD collaboration album, one disc full of mixed genres and an array of upcoming talent (Nuala, Waltzz, Tim Cruize, Ellie Edwards, Genesis Elijah, Shay D, Under-Rated, and loads more). All self produced no recording studio involved the band prove they can make something out of nothing, In April 2017 Rupert Tyrer sadly left the band and we welcomed David Cattermole on bass and Jordan Hankins on rhythm guitar. And embarked on yet another year of gigs to prepare for the release of the new project Mixed Personalities. Which was released August 4th at the album launch at the Voodoo Lounge Stamford. With 100 hard copies made sold out and now available online, and some singles getting airplay from BBC Introducing which led to a live session, they were very pleased with the reception of the album. The band is now on their fourth run of gigs and preparing for a third project. The band now sitting at 8 pieces. AJ, Sooth, David, Jordan, Toby, Craig and Chris Moore. Look out for 2020.

Velvet Insane | The Big Dirty | Indya | Rufus | The Black Prince | 18:30

SBD presents: Velvet Insane, on their UK tour. Formed in 2013 as a dream project for the guitarist Jesper Lindgren, the Swedish based Velvet Insane has gone from a four piece rock band to a rock duo with inspirations from 70’s glam and more modern music. Velvet Insane has toured the world with countries such as Japan, USA, Spain, Australia and the UK, they have released EPs and in January 2019 they released their first full length, self titled album. The album with hits such as “High on Love” and “Coffee, Jazz and Arts” cemented them on top lists in several countries. After great reviews, a singer dubbed with one of Sweden’s top rock voices the duo has since worked on several art projects and events. Which has helped the band improve their music as well as evolve personally. In January 2020 the duo will release their new full length CD which is a new step for the band. This CD’s first single features renown rock guitarist Bruce Kulick, and other songs have collaborations with well known Swedish artists. A very ambitious album which the duo has spent a lot of time on and it brings out some of the best of them both musically and lyrically. The band features singer Jonas Eriksson and guitarist Jesper Lindgren. Plus THE BIG DIRTY, having just returned from recording at the BBC’s legendary Maida Vale studios, and as they work on their new album, the “sex rock” four-piece rock band from Northampton bring us tasty riffs with pumping drums and soaring vocals. Their live show is second to none. And INDYA, Kent fivesome with the sensational ‘Goddess of Rock’ frontwoman. Think glamorous 80’s sleaze rock with an integration of ska & heavy metal. And We Don’t Know Anyone Called RufusNew Northampton outfit, a mix of classic rock and punk. The venue is 18+.
