Velvet Engine

Velvet Engine

Velvet Engine is a bold force in Northampton’s singer-songwriter scene — captivating listeners with melodic journeys that are a visceral blend of gritty guitar textures, soulful melodies, and raw emotional depth.Velvet Engine was first founded by San-D Godoy, a local singer/songwriter of South American decent. Lots of her material is influenced by memories of her childhood, but also of moments of particular sadness and suffering. For San-D, the exercise of songwriting is a cathartic one. She uses its therapeutic value as a method of processing the suffering of herself, and those closest to her. Because of that she quickly forged a reputation for music that resonates with both raw energy and thoughtful introspection.Velvet Engine has since developed into a 3-piece band of seasoned musicians united by a passion for expressive songwriting. On stage, Velvet Engine is at once vulnerable and electrifying — commanding attention with a presence that feels both intimate and infectious. From the very first riff, Velvet Engine’s sound announces itself with confidence and intention. Fusing classic rock influences with modern sensibilities, their tracks are marked by soaring hooks, punchy rhythms, and evocative lyrics that invite listeners into a world of personal experience and broader human sentiment. A rollercoaster of emotions, they blend rapturous harmonies, with euphoric melodies that will haunt you well after the music has stopped. What sets the band apart is not just their musical proficiency, but their ability to translate authenticity into every chord and chorus — a testament to their dedication to craft and connection. Their shows are less about performance and more about shared experience, forging a communal bond between audience and artist that lingers long after the final note fades. With each release, Velvet Engine continues to explore new emotional terrain while staying true to the core sound that first drew fans in. The band’s music stands as a bold declaration: Velvet Engine isn’t just creating songs — they’re crafting moments that stay with you. Keep your ears tuned.
