New Platform for Northampton Music Launches with Live Showcase at The Black Prince
A new voice for Northampton’s independent music scene is set to launch this April, as NMC Northampton Music relaunches with a live showcase event at The Black Prince.
Positioned as a platform dedicated to the bands, venues and people shaping the sound of the town, NMC aims to spotlight emerging and established artists through live events, editorial coverage and a weekly gig guide.
The launch show, taking place on Saturday 18 April, brings together four acts representing the energy, diversity and future of music in and around Northampton.
Headlining the night are Tiebreak, fresh from opening the main stage at Northampton Music Festival 2025. Drawing on influences from The Cure, The Smiths and The Police, while incorporating the contemporary edge of artists like The 1975 and Sam Fender, the band arrive with growing momentum and a debut album scheduled for release this July.
Also on the lineup are Northampton-based four-piece Latent Dream, whose alternative and indie sound combines spacey guitar textures with emphatic, high-energy performances. Taking cues from artists such as Green Day, The Cure and Interpol, the band have built a reputation for immersive live shows.
Completing the bill are Breaker, an alternative rock act from nearby Milton Keynes known for their direct, high-impact sound, and Josh Cox (Trio), delivering blues-rooted guitar music with a raw, stripped-back live feel.
Organisers describe the event as more than just a gig, positioning it as a statement of intent for what NMC Northampton Music aims to become.“This is about creating a platform for the scene,” they say. “Northampton has always had great bands — this is about giving them a space to be seen, heard and documented.”
Doors open at 7:30pm, with music from 8pm. Advance tickets are priced at £5, with entry on the door available for £7. The event is strictly 18+.
As well as live events, NMC Northampton Music will focus on gig guides, artist spotlights and music reviews, aiming to build a consistent and credible voice within the local music community.
With its launch event, NMC sets out to establish itself not just as a promoter, but as a long-term platform for Northampton’s independent music culture.
